My Background

Hello, my name is Alaina. Thank you so much for taking the time to learn more about me and see if I may be the right fit for you. I am in the process of completing my clinical internship hours for my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health. While working through my program I have been an Employment specialist helping under-represented individuals with skill development and reaching career goals. My favorite part about this job was helping people grow into themselves and reach their fullest potential. While I have loved this work, career development is only one piece of a person and I want to help support the whole person. One important thing to know about me is my love for diversity. I know that every person is different and thus has different needs within therapy. I utilize techniques based on person-centered therapy which allows me to focus on YOU and what will work best for you. Below are a few of my particular areas of interest:

  • Identity Development - My greatest passion is helping people through the process of identity development. This involves helping individuals to explore themselves on the deepest levels, gain self-awareness, self-confidence, and overall sense of self. Let's discover who you are and who you want to be.

  • Life Transitions - Life is hard, I will never argue with that. It can become even harder during a time of transition or change. We all need safety and stability, I am here to help you find this during times of change.

  • Non-traditional lifestyles - Let's celebrate differences and practice acceptance. Many people choose to follow the traditional lifestyle passed down through generations, but others want to break out of this box and live differently. Unfortunately or fortunately, there are no blueprints for living differently, this freedom is amazing, but at times we can use a little help and support with navigating unknown territory. Let's work together to create the lifestyle that works best for you

  • Mental Health Strategies - Mental Health is a topic that has begun being talked about more and more, but it is still something that individuals struggle with and the stigma still exists. The world was created for the neurotypical person. As a neurodiverse individual, I aim to help you find ways to navigate and cope with the world. This is done through acceptance of our mental health differences. I will help you to work with yourself rather than against yourself through various strategies and techniques that will use your differences as strengths and make minor accommodations to help you live life easier and happier.
