My Background
Hello! My name is Renée, and I am currently completing my internship hours for an MS in Clinical Mental Health. After a decade as an academic teaching in New York City, I realized that what I truly cared about was helping my students thrive in all of their unique brilliance. Now, I hope to do the same for my clients. I offer a person-centered approach that celebrates your distinct, original experience of life. I will support you through challenging periods of growth and offer a helping hand to hold your pain. My approach is informed by existential therapy, and I love to engage with the difficult, sticky challenges of life. I am particularly interested in supporting those who struggle with chronic illness or pain, grief or loss, or the upheaval of any major life transition. I also have a keen interest in helping those struggling with trauma, depression, and anxiety. I do not believe in standard approaches to healing, and instead work with you as an individual to find the resources that will best support your distinct needs. I may draw upon somatic practices, internal family systems, or other modalities that feel right to you.
I have over twenty years of mindfulness-based training, am a certified meditation instructor, and can bring in mindfulness-based tools if that is an area of interest for you. If spirituality or faith is an important part of your healing journey I am also happy to support that aspect of your path. What is most important to me is you -- your values, your culture, your true nature. My office is an inclusive space where I aim for you to feel seen, heard, and where your life experience will be honored.
